Chersonissos is located on the northern coast of Crete, about 25 km east of Heraklion, the island’s capital. Once a small fishing village, it has grown into a well-organized resort town over the years. Together with the nearby towns of Stalida and Malia, Chersonissos forms a popular tourism region, renowned for its beautiful beaches.
Originally, the village center was further inland (“Old Chersonissos”), while the coastal area only served as a port and was called “Limenas Chersonissos”.
Today, the area pulses with life along the waterfront promenade, featuring numerous hotels, bars, cafes, shops, and a wide range of recreational activities for adventurous visitors.
